Heavy sigh...
Verbatim from Journey To The REST:

7/12/2007: 'RELOAD' ON HIATUS AFTER ALL With her entry to the hospital looming on July 14 for her surgery on July 17, Minekura-sensei tried her best to finish the second half of Saiyuki RELOAD side story "Mezase! Tenkaichi" in time to make the ZERO-SUM issue coming out July 28...but it unfortunately wasn't possible to do after all, she's just announced in her Nitro diary. Saiyuki RELOAD is planned to return to ZERO-SUM in the November 2007 issue that comes out September 28...although some Japanese fans say they aren't expecting to see the next chapter until the New Year.

In the meantime, we can look forward to the Summer WARD (August 16) with its alternate cover for Saiyuki Gaiden tankoubon Vol. 3, and Vol. 3 itself, slated for release July 25.

+ + + + +

Quickie note on the personal front... Found a big ol' former store/mondo-tatami-roomed living quarters place (three connected buildings, each a different size and color...looks kinda like a house orgy from outside!) partway between where I live now and the further-north city my job will move to later this year. The place is over 200 square meters, has a slew of neat old decorative architectural touches, but is in need of fixing up (some photos are here--shot a lot of fiddly details for my partner to see, since she'll be moving in too later this year)...annndo, maybe because they figure there's not much more damage to be caused, they're willing to accept pets! It's also in an area that has cable, unlike here in inaka-ville...and it'll be bye-bye to crummy dial-up Internet connection, too! Hopped on it with both feet, and have been packing and Packing and PACKING, figuring on moving the first week of August. Gonna be a crazy time!

Gotta get back to the boxes... Let's make July 17 Worldwide Best Hopes For Minekura Day!

Guests will certainly be welcome! (And our Koji comes from a long line of non-allergenic poodles... ;^) ) Ten minutes' walk from a Tobu station, and 60 (express) to 90 minutes from Tokyo...

All my thoughts will go out to Minekura-sensei on the 17th!

And - the house is awesome! It's huge! It's so very Japanese - and did I mention huge? And - pets! Pets and cable, doesn't get much better than that. Not when you also have a new bathtub! Good luck with the crazy moving schedule - first week of August, you say? Wow. Busy times!

Really hope she'll have someone post news to her blog right after the surgery, just to let us know she's all right and things went fine...!

Wow, am so tickled that you like the house too! (Although its big size may not seem like such a good thing when winter arrives...!) The first month will just be me and the stilt-rat, which is sure to be spooky in a big, unfamiliar place...but my partner will get here in September, followed soon after by fur-children. And then in October, the company will move. Whee~!

Are you kidding? It's a brilliant house! All that potential...! And big enough for visitors, I hope? ♥

All of this is really great news, I'm so happy for you both! *hugs*

A tonne of well wishes for Minekura-sensei. I can wait till New Year if it means she can take time out to get better, for herself.

...

As to the house, all houses need fixing up before you move in. Just so you can put your personal imprint on them. ^__^

Happy housewarming! Happy for you, your partnet and your critters! Yay!

Let's hope she doesn't push herself (or get pushed by editors or publishers) to come back before she's physically ready. Sitting and drawing can't be easy after invasive surgery in the abdominal gooey-gutular region...!

Hee, that's a good point about fixing up houses! And thank you so much...we're looking forward so much to all being back together again!

Hello there...I know you're in the midst of packing/unpacking and v. busy.

I heard about the earthquake and I hope you and critters are ok and also the kind folks at RFB...and I wasn't sure where to opst this so um...yeah I thought I should let you know just in case it was pertinent to you guys..I followed a link on Anime news network and found this...

just thought I'd let you know

I hope it's nothing to panic about as I'm clueless about things such as laws and stuff!

SOrry for spamming your space!

Hope its all going good..natural disasters notwithstanding...and hope that Minekura-sensei is resting and recuperating by now. ^__^

That's so kind of you! Here we got Niigata's high-6 earthquake as a high 4--strong enough to knock over a few little things in the apartment, but no damage. Thanks too for the news! That's the first I'd heard about it. (The report didn't mention pointy ears and fangs in the descriptions of the wrong-doers, so the guys are probably okay...)

Wow the new place is huge! 3-fer house indeed. The house I grew up in apparently was once a corner grocery store, but you would never know except for the walled in part of the house that used to the the front door of the store. It was walled in and the original doors closed over the corner and we made it into a storage room. Then stuck a huge curtain over that corner of the house so no one would wonder why there were double doors that lead to no where. ^___^ I'm sure you and your partner will have a blast living there.

I will certainly remember to make July 17th a Best Wishes day for Minekura. I'm not catholic but maybe I'll light a candle for her on that day anyway.

That must have been cool, living in a former corner store! Man, double doors leading to nowhere...if I'd lived there growing up, I would've been freaked that there was a different dimension on the other side or something! (As a kid I was terrified the TV would turn itself back on in the middle of the night and broadcast messages from a different dimension...it didn't help that after the TV was on for a long time and got turned off, a tiny dot of light remained in the center--and if you looked really close, it looked like a tiny picture was in there moving...*shudder*)

Lighting a candle--great idea!

Marking the 17th on my calendar!

The house looks really neat. It should clean up nicely! (And hopefully for you, quickly *g*) Those stairs by the bathroom, though - I would fall down them every damn day if they were in my own house XD

Hee, those stairs by the bathroom are definitely a go-up-'em-on-all-fours arrangement. Will be getting a lot of practice at putting that gear in reverse to back down, too...because given the steepness, and the occasional earth tremors, walking down normally sure wouldn't be recommended!

I'm sorry to hear she won't be able to get the chapter out in time, but her health is more important and I hope she recovers well and fully.

Good luck with the move! I dislike moving. I have far to much crap to haul around...

Absolutely! I was glad she made the announcement not long after midnight when the 12th became the 13th. Earlier she had written that she'd announce what was happening by the 13th, so I'd been worried she'd half-kill herself hammering and hammering at the chapter all the way through the 13th to try to finish it before going into the hospital on the 14th.

Dislike moving--you and me both! Too much crap, and too few boxes that fit it well...phoo.

Thanks for all the information, I'll be thinking about Minekura-sensei on the 17th. At least it will all get sorted now, which is something!

Congrats on the house, it looks huge! And the stairs look steep. It does look a little like a mixture of ideas on the outside. Will life slow down a little after all of this? Good luck with the move, there is always more crap to deal with than you think, not to mention the supply of socks you discover under the back of the bed! (My cat has usually hidden them there as she is a sock-wit). Good luck again!!

Hey, thanks so much! Gonna be an adventure getting the computer desk up those steep stairs...heck, just getting the computer up them ain't gonna be pretty...! Am hopeful that life will slow down a little after the move. Ohhh, you absolutely nailed it about "more crap to deal with than you think"--less than two weeks before the move now, and man, what I would give to stop that ever-ticking clock for a while...!

The earthquake happened the day before her surgery so probably didn't affect it. She lives in Kanagawa prefecture, so, I'd guess she probably had the surgery done in Kanagawa or Tokyo. The earthquake was in Niigata, north of Tokyo, and was a high 6. I live partway between Niigata and Tokyo, and we generally feel Niigata's earthquakes two levels less; on Monday we got Niigata's high 6 as a high 4. There have been a few aftershocks in Niigata since then but not strong enough for us to feel them so far (knock wood!). It's not like in October 2004, when Niigata got hit and hit day after day after day (which made things pretty scary down here too).
